{"id":3480,"date":"2021-09-27T09:16:38","date_gmt":"2021-09-27T07:16:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/etudes-woolfiennes.org\/?p=3480"},"modified":"2024-04-20T18:09:16","modified_gmt":"2024-04-20T16:09:16","slug":"3480","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/etudes-woolfiennes.org\/?p=3480","title":{"rendered":"Hommage \u00e0 Laura Marcus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019\u00c9tudes Woolfiennes tient \u00e0 exprimer sa tr\u00e8s grande tristesse \u00e0 l\u2019annonce du d\u00e9c\u00e8s de Laura Marcus, Goldsmiths Professor of English Literature dans la facult\u00e9 de New College \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9 d\u2019Oxford, le 22 septembre dernier des suites d\u2019une courte maladie.<\/p>\n<p>Figure phare des \u00e9tudes woolfiennes et modernistes, en Angleterre comme en France, Laura Marcus se distingua par l\u2019\u00e9tendue et la profondeur de son \u00e9rudition, de ses recherches dans le champ culturel et th\u00e9orique de la litt\u00e9rature des XIX\u00e8me et XX\u00e8me\u00a0si\u00e8cles. Elle consacra des \u0153uvres critiques majeures aux grands mouvements de la Modernit\u00e9, le cin\u00e9ma, la\u00a0psychanalyse, l\u2019autobiographie, ainsi qu\u2019aux liens entre litt\u00e9rature et culture dans l\u2019univers de Bloomsbury, notamment\u00a0<em>Auto\/biographical Discourses: Theory, Criticism, Practice<\/em> (1994), <em>Virginia Woolf: Writers and their Work<\/em> (1997\/2004), <em>The Tenth Muse: Writing about Cinema in the Modernist Period <\/em>(2007),\u00a0<em>Dreams of Modernity: Psychoanalysis, Literature, Cinema<\/em>\u00a0(Cambridge University Press, 2014). Elle \u00e9tait engag\u00e9e plus r\u00e9cemment dans un projet de recherche intitul\u00e9\u00a0\u00ab Rhythmic Subjects: The Measures of the Modern \u00bb,\u00a0consacr\u00e9\u00a0\u00e0\u00a0la litt\u00e9rature abondante sur le \u00ab\u00a0rythme\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0au\u00a0tournant du XX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle dans une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de contextes disciplinaires et culturels, men\u00e9 en 2020 \u00e0 l\u2019Institut des \u00e9tudes avanc\u00e9es de Paris, et dont la facult\u00e9 de New College en collaboration avec OUP esp\u00e8re accomplir la publication.<\/p>\n<p>Laura Marcus aimait la France et son milieu intellectuel, comme les coll\u00e8gues woolfiens et modernistes aimaient collaborer avec elle et b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de sa pr\u00e9sence remarquable d\u2019attention et de g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9 aux colloques. On se souviendra de sa magistrale pl\u00e9ni\u00e8re sur \u00ab Virginia Woolf and the Art of the Novel\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0au\u00a0colloque de la SEW \u00ab Contemporary Woolf\/Woolf contemporaine\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9 d\u2019Aix-Marseille\u00a0en 2010.
